Fluorescence microscopy showing cytoskeletal remodeling in human RA fibroblast-like synoviocytes (RA-FLS) treated with triptolide. Cytoskeletal staining reveals the actin network and morphological changes in synoviocytes isolated from rheumatoid arthritis patients. (human (RA synovial fibroblasts, rheumatoid arthritis); Figure 3, A.)

Immunohistochemical analysis of polarization markers in the intimal lining layer (ILL) of synovial tissue from spondyloarthritis (SpA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. Expression of CD68, CD163, and CD32 in the ILL (panels A-C), showing macrophage-like synoviocytes (type A synoviocytes) lining the joint space. (human (synovial tissue, RA and SpA patients); Figure 2.)

Haematoxylin and eosin (H&E)-stained sections of human synovial tissue from control (normal) hip and hip osteoarthritis (HOA). The control synovial membrane (left panels) shows a thin intima consisting of 1 to 3 layers of fibroblast-like synoviocytes (type B synoviocytes) overlying a loose sublining stroma. In osteoarthritis (right panels), the intima is thickened with increased synoviocyte layers and subintimal cellular infiltrates. Low and high magnification panels shown. (human (hip joint synovium); Figure 2, a-f.)
